This marvelous technology relies primarily on the Earth’s natural thermal energy, a renewable resource, to heat or cool a house, multi-family dwelling, or commercial building. The only additional energy these systems require is the small amount of electricity they employ to concentrate what Mother Nature provides and then to circulate high-quality heating and and even cooling throughout the dwelling.

Over the years we have used various suppliers for our heat pumps and we have found our current supplier extremely reliable and have been using them for years.The Solterra™ team have been designing heating systems in Ireland for over 14 years.

Homeowners who use Solterra™ geothermal heat pump systems have given us very positive feedback because of their ability to deliver comfortably warm air, even on the coldest winter day’s, and also because of their extraordinarily low operating costs.

As an additional benefit, Solterra™ systems can provide inexpensive hot water, either to supplement or replace entirely the output of a conventional, domestic water heater.

How it Works

* Solterra™ geothermal heat pumps harness free stored heat in the ground.
* This is solar energy, replenished by sun and moisture.
* Available all year round.... even in severe weather.
* No need for a back-up system.
* Can also collect heat from rivers or lakes.

Because each site is unique we do a site specific design for each client.

The Collector

The ground heat is collected by laying a large quantity of plastic piping filled with a chilled water solution in the ground. If space is restricted, we can design the collector to optimise the area available.

It cannot be over stated that the key to efficient geothermal heating is to design the collector correctly from the start. 14 years of experience means that the Solterra team will design a system to suit your unique needs.

The system is also flexible enough to make use of running or standing water as the heat source, and can even recover waste heat where it is available. And, unlike any boiler system, the geothermal system can offer virtually free geothernal cooling wherever there is a need for it.

The Solterra™ Heat Pump

The Solterra™ heat pumps use refrigeration technology to transfer heat. The system uses 1 unit of electricity to move 4 units of heat.

The Solterra™ heat pump is approximately: 800mm x 800mm x 400mm, in size, making it compact enough to be fitted into plantrooms with ease.
